Some background

Our legendary history

Botanical herbalism

Botanical herbalism is an ancient healing technique that brings us back in tune with nature. You could describe it as ecological healing in that we have our natural niche on the planet which we share with all living creation. It’s from this heritage with the plant kingdom that herbal remedies do their work in healing us.

Our physical needs have always been met by nature by way of food, water and air, our shared biology having created this symbiosis that includes our health.

The use of botanicals for healing remedies is inherent in all cultures over eons of time.

Since 2012 The Gumpii Apothecary has harvested with careful land knowledge and sustainability in mind, wildcrafted natural Australian botanicals, processing them gently to retain their full medicinal value, making them accessible to the practitioner and home user alike.

Australian botanicals well known throughout the years by our Origine families, and since been confirmed by tests done in Germany, Japan, United States and Australia.

A little research will reveal pages and pages of information regarding Wilga, Gumpii (otherwise known as Gumby, Desert Apricot, Cumby).
May we continue to preserve our land so our future generations have the blessings on the fruits thereof.

Turning fresh greens into medicine

Our herbal tinctures

Most health food stores offer an array of supplements in tablet or capsule form which appeals to the consumer of self-prescribed herbal supplements. In contrast health care professionals trained in herbal therapy generally emphasize traditional liquid preparations.

Why? A couple of reasons…. Firstly, they are easier to formulate to the needs of each person and if prepared properly, they involve minimal processing and reflect the chemical spectrum of the original herb in a convenient form with greater dose flexibility.

Superior bioavailability is a great advantage of our herbal tinctures over solid-dose preparations as when solid-dose preparations are ingested they must first be dissolved in the digestive juices to be absorbed by the body.
The important phytochemical constituents are already in the tincture making it of greater advantage.

How we make our herbal tinctures

We carefully harvest and air-dry the highest quality botanicals. The exact ethyl alcohol percentage is used to extract the dried botanical. A Swiss study found the optimum percentage for extraction of essential oil from natural Australian botanicals, we use was between 45% to 60% ethyl alcohol. We have adopted this percentage as it is optimal for use with our natural Australian botanicals and those dried botanicals imported from countries with greater medicinal value than we grow here.

Together we expanded our vision, created and made it

For our small group there came that inevitable and exciting time when the vision we had for the Apothecary was ready for expansion.

We also knew this would entail dealing only in botanicals would have to cross the threshold into addressing bringing the body back to the homeostasis position and with this we would need to add supplements, nutrients and trace elements into the equation.

Hours and hours of research and study went into this next phase of our expansion.

As times and health options are changing rapidly, what we once knew as organics; were they truly organic now? What if our air and water is polluted? What may be missing in our soils that translates into our bodies?

And how does that change the way we must look at the health and balance of the body? So many questions and so much further research.

How would we do this with the least amount of disturbance for the body?
We did this by formulating protocols for a number of health issues which have proved successful in helping many people return to optimum health.
