Collection: Women's Hormonal Health
Hormonal health is at the heart of how women feel — physically, emotionally, and mentally — at every stage of life. Whether you're navigating the monthly rhythms of your cycle, the transitional years of perimenopause, or the new chapter of post-menopause, your body's hormonal ecosystem deserves thoughtful, evidence-informed support.
At The Gumpii Apothecary, we've curated this collection to address the full spectrum of women's hormonal health — from cycle regulation and PMS relief, to estrogen balance, adrenal support, thyroid function, bone density, sleep, mood, and cognitive vitality.
Our range draws on traditional herbal wisdom, Australian bush botanicals, and evidence-based nutritional support — all formulated without synthetic hormones, fillers, or compromise.

- Menopause Support — bone density, cardiovascular health, cognition, and vitality post-menopause
The Gut-Hormone Connection
The gut microbiome plays a direct role in hormonal regulation — including estrogen metabolism, cortisol balance, thyroid conversion, and inflammatory signalling. Four key botanicals and probiotics in this collection are particularly relevant to this connection.
Akkermansia muciniphila
Akkermansia colonises the mucosal lining of the gut wall and is associated with improved gut barrier integrity and reduced systemic inflammation — both of which are directly relevant to hormonal health. A compromised gut lining allows inflammatory endotoxins into the bloodstream, disrupting hormonal signalling and burdening the liver's capacity to metabolise and clear hormones. Akkermansia thrives on polyphenol-rich foods and is depleted by processed diets, antibiotics, and chronic stress.
Lactobacillus reuteri
L. reuteri is a well-studied probiotic strain with broad studied effects relevant to women's health. It produces reuterin — a natural antimicrobial compound — and has been studied for its role in gut-brain axis signalling, immune modulation, and hormonal pathways. Research has explored its association with reduced inflammatory markers and signalling relevant to estrogen metabolism and mood regulation.
Gumpii (Pittosporum angustifolium)
Gumpii is a native Australian botanical with a significant polyphenol profile — including rutin, quercetin, and dicaffeolylquinic acid — that acts as a prebiotic substrate for beneficial gut bacteria including Akkermansia. Research (Netzel et al., 2020, Foods, MDPI) characterised its antioxidant capacity, carotenoid content, and bioactive compound profile. Its polyphenol richness makes it a natural complement to probiotic support, feeding the microbial environment that underpins hormonal balance.
Australian Mistletoe (Loranthaceae)
Australian Mistletoe is a native hemiparasitic botanical with a rich polyphenol content. Like Gumpii, it provides prebiotic substrate for beneficial gut bacteria and supports the conditions in which Akkermansia and other keystone species thrive. It has been used in traditional Australian herbalism and is increasingly of interest for its bioactive compound profile in the context of gut health and hormonal wellbeing.
