Boron is a trace mineral essential for many vital functions in the body. It supports reproductive health, brain function, bone formation, calcium and magnesium metabolism, and the activity of steroid hormones like Vitamin D. Boron plays a key role in improving insulin function, energy metabolism, immune response, and heart health. It also helps reduce joint rigidity, supports wound healing, and eases symptoms of osteoarthritis, osteopenia, and osteoporosis. Traditionally used in Western health practices, boron has been shown to enhance cognitive performance, short-term memory in older adults, and brain electrical activity. It increases antioxidant enzyme levels such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase, offering protection against oxidative stress and heavy metal toxicity. Boron may also reduce inflammation markers like hs-CRP and TNF-μ, influence the activity of important biomolecules like SAM-e and NAD⁺, and has shown potential in the prevention and supportive treatment of certain cancers, including prostate, cervical, and lung cancer, as well as lymphomas. Where boron deficiency is noted 10mg may be used short term to boost boron levels and may also boost testosterone levels, 3mg for maintenance.

Boron & Hot Flashes — A Key Connection for Menopausal Women

One of boron's most significant and underappreciated roles is its effect on oestrogen metabolism in menopausal and post-menopausal women. Boron helps the body maintain and utilise its remaining natural oestrogen more efficiently — and this has a direct and often dramatic impact on hot flashes.

Research has shown that women who introduce boron supplementation frequently report a significant reduction in hot flash frequency and severity — and in many cases, hot flashes dissipate entirely. This is not a coincidence. Boron activates enzymes involved in oestrogen and testosterone metabolism, effectively helping the body make better use of the hormones it still produces. For women navigating perimenopause or post-menopause, this can be genuinely life-changing.

Boron also supports the conversion of Vitamin D to its active form — and Vitamin D deficiency is strongly associated with worsening menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, mood changes, and bone loss. The two work synergistically.

Stack for hot flash support: Boron + Vitamin D3 + Vitamin K2 + Magnesium Glycinate — this combination addresses the hormonal, nutritional, and metabolic drivers of hot flashes simultaneously.

General Dosage

As a dietary supplement, 1–2 capsules daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. For menopausal support, 3mg daily maintenance dose is typical; where deficiency is noted, 6–10mg short term may be used.
