Gravel Root Extract (Eutrochium purpureum)

Gravel Root — also known as Joe Pye Weed or Queen of the Meadow — is derived from the root of Eutrochium purpureum (formerly Eupatorium purpureum), a tall perennial native to eastern North America. It has a long and well-documented history of use in traditional North American herbal medicine, particularly among Native American peoples, and was later adopted widely into 19th century Eclectic herbal practice.

Gravel Root takes its common name from its traditional use as a urinary herb — specifically its historical use in supporting the passage of urinary gravel (small mineral crystals) and supporting overall urinary tract and kidney wellness. It is one of the most specific urinary herbs in the North American herbal tradition.

Traditional Herbal Use

Urinary & Kidney Wellness

Gravel Root has been used for centuries in traditional herbal medicine as a diuretic herb to support urinary flow and kidney wellness. It is one of the most classic urinary herbs in the North American Eclectic tradition, traditionally used to support the health of the urinary tract, kidneys, and bladder. It is commonly used in herbal practice to support the body’s natural urinary elimination processes.
