Organic Mullein Extract (Verbascum thapsus)
Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a tall biennial herb native to Europe, northern Africa, and Asia, naturalised across North America and Australia, with a documented history of medicinal use spanning over 2,000 years in Greek, Roman, and European herbal traditions. It is one of the most important and widely used respiratory herbs in Western herbal medicine and has been used by numerous Native American peoples for respiratory and lung wellness. It was included in the United States Pharmacopoeia from 1888 to 1936 and remains a staple of contemporary Western herbal practice for respiratory wellness.
Mullein is classified as an expectorant, demulcent, and antispasmodic herb in Western herbal medicine — categories of herbs traditionally used to support respiratory mucous membrane wellness, ease of breathing, and soothing of irritated tissues. The leaf is the primary part used for respiratory wellness, while the root has a traditional history of use for urinary and musculoskeletal wellness. This extract is prepared in 60% alcohol from certified organic Mullein leaf.
