Natural Tulsi Extract (Ocimum tenuiflorum)

Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum), known as Holy Basil, is a sacred aromatic herb native to the Indian subcontinent with a documented history of use in Ayurvedic medicine spanning over 3,000 years. Revered as the “Queen of Herbs” in the Ayurvedic tradition, Tulsi holds a uniquely sacred status in Hindu culture — it is considered sacred to Vishnu and is traditionally grown in or near Hindu households and temples. It is one of the most important Rasayana herbs in Ayurveda and is classified as a medhya rasayana — a herb traditionally used for cognitive and nervous system wellness.

Tulsi is classified as an adaptogen, nervine, and immunomodulatory herb in Western herbal medicine. It is one of the most extensively researched Ayurvedic herbs in contemporary botanical science, with a substantial body of peer-reviewed research. This extract is prepared in 60% alcohol from wildcrafted Tulsi aerial parts.

Naturally Occurring Compounds

  • Eugenol — the primary phenylpropanoid in Tulsi; a naturally occurring compound also found in cloves; one of the key markers of Tulsi quality and potency
  • Rosmarinic acid — a naturally occurring caffeic acid ester; a key antioxidant compound shared with other Lamiaceae herbs including Rosemary and Thyme
  • Ursolic acid — a naturally occurring triterpenoid present in the aerial parts; one of the most researched naturally occurring compounds in Tulsi
  • Ocimumosides A and B — naturally occurring glycosides unique to Ocimum species; key adaptogenic compounds in Tulsi
  • Flavonoids — including orientin, vicenin, luteolin, and apigenin
  • Volatile oils — including β-caryophyllene, linalool, and methyl eugenol; contributing to Tulsi’s characteristic aroma
  • Vitamins and minerals — naturally rich in vitamins A and C, calcium, and iron

How to Use

Take 20–30 drops under the tongue or in a little juice or water, up to 2–3 times daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
